HR DIRECTOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources (HR Director) at Advantage will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy. The HR Director will carry out responsibilities in the following areas: departmental development, PEO oversight, recruitment and on-boarding of high-quality employees, benefits and compensation management, employee relations, and staff training & development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Overview:
  • Oversee and execute the strategic direction of HR, including implementation of high value-added HRM processes which supports business goals.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to:
    • compensation, benefits, and leave.
    • disciplinary matters; including disputes and investigations.
    • performance and talent management; including productivity, recognition, and morale.
    • occupational health and safety; including training and development.
  • Partner and coach managers on positive collaboration with and performance management of their staff.
  • Presides over all escalated employee relations issues/concerns.
  • Manage relationships with external partners (e.g., search firms, PEO) as appropriate.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Ensure all personnel changes (e.g., annual increases, promotions, terminations) are recorded, updated in HRM systems and filed in a timely manner for payroll processing.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, benefits and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate and recommend changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Manage, develop, coach/mentor direct reports to include performance management including establishing standards of performance, developing priorities, and setting goals.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Establish and support a competitive salary structure, pay practices, and job pay-ranges that facilitate talent recruitment and retention.

Employee Relations:

  • Establish an in-house employee development and training system that addresses company’s needs including new employee orientation or onboarding, management development, cross training, and skills assessment.
  • Manage and support a full lifecycle recruiting process including building a talent pipeline both internally through succession planning as well as passive external recruitment.
  • Support initiatives to influence company culture development such as communications, meetings, and charitable
  • Develop and implement employee safety, welfare, and wellness
  • Develops and implements departmental budget.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Limited air or vehicle travel.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience creating technical content aimed at internal and external users of Web-based SAAS application. 
  • Experience with Business Process Mapping Notation or similar frameworks for documenting business processes 
  • IT and or telecommunications experience a plus 
  • Experience producing documentation in an Agile environment. 
  • Experience developing or defining a style guide, which is also listed above under responsibilities. 
  • Extensive experience with documentation tools, including:
    • Microsoft Office suite including Visio 
    • Adobe Technical Communications Suite (Framemaker and Robohelp) 
  • Experience with SharePoint content management using Wiki, Document libraries, and metadata management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail, diligent task follow-through, and superior customer experience orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (including grammar and punctuation).
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive and confidential matters effectively to all professional levels within the organization.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Experience successfully implementing and managing an HRM system.
  • General knowledge of current US states and federal wages, employment laws and HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience with HR matters outside of the United States a significant
  • Must be highly proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office

 

Advantage provides salary & benefits commensurate with experience and achievement. The compensation range for this role is an annual salary of $120,000-150,000.
